There’s been some huge hype surrounding the release of Wanted: Dead on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. And right now you get to find out whether that hype is fully deserved.

Available to purchase, download and play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC is Wanted: Dead from 110 Industries and the team at Soleil. A game that fully embraces the old-school action of sixth generation consoles, if you’re in the market for a blood-thirsty, limb-severing shoot and slash ’em up, we’re not sure there will be anything better.

It’s priced at £49.99 and that thrusts Wanted: Dead straight into top-tier territory. But it seemingly warrants that price tag, delivering a host of ideas, features and mechanics the way of the player.

Throwing you into the shoes of Lt. Hannah Stone, a hardened Hong Kong cop who is part of the cities Zombie Unit, it’ll be left to you to work your way through Wanted: Dead in the best way possible. This will mean hacking, slashing, shooting, traversing, navigating and understanding how the world around you works.

A ton of weapons will be at your disposal, both ranged and close quarters melee stylee, whilst the most brutal of finishing moves will ensure that those you take on, stay down, dead.

A gripping narrative will help push this along, whilst love-letters will consistently pop up from console gaming of old. But most importantly, you’ll need to understand that Wanted: Dead is a proper hardcore experience, one that will test your gaming skills to the max.

Should you be down for that test, Wanted: Dead will run with the following key features…

  • – Hack-n-slash melee combat: Use a wide variety of deadly moves and dozens of unique finishers to slice and dice
  • – Third-person shooter: Battle indoors and outdoors using a curated selection of projectile weapons – assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs and grenade launchers
  • – Brutal finishers: over 50 unique finishing moves – Cyberpunk: a crazy mix of advanced weaponry and lo-tech 90s retro futurism
  • – Gripping storyline: The Zombie unit uncovers a major corporate conspiracy in a dystopian version of Hong Kong
  • – Truly hardcore experience: the fights are not going to be easy, steel your resolve and use everything around you as you battle through hordes of mercenaries, synthetics and private security forces.
  • – Beat ’em up the old school way: Take down enemies to proceed further, revive the nostalgia in a modern twist on the established genre
  • – A love letter to the sixth generation of consoles.

Our full review of Wanted: Dead is incoming. For now, head to the Xbox Store and pick up this zombie slashing shooter on Xbox One or, optimised for, Xbox Series X|S. You’ll also find it on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
