Nearly a year on since The King of Fighters XV released to the world, Season 2 kicks off – bringing with it new characters and a refinement patch for the entire roster.Â
Having rocked up onto Xbox, PlayStation and PC in the early months of 2022, it’s time for The King of Fighters XV players to step forth into Season 2, as the SNK Corporation dish out a host of new content.
The main draw will be the new additions to the character roster and front and centre of that is one Shingo Yabuki – a young man who became impassioned by Kyo Kusanagi’s strength and all but forced him to become his martial arts master. For Kyo, however, he looks at Shingo as his passive assistant, and treats him as such. Recently, Shingo has been gaining Kyo’s approval and seems to be making steady progress as a fighter, albeit little by little. His adolescent approach to life gives him a personality liked by many. You’ll find that Shingo is voiced by Takehito Koyasu.
Shingo may be the only new addition for now, but KOF XV players will have a number more to look forward to throughout the course of 2023. Kim Kaphwan is scheduled to appear in the spring, while Sylvie Paula Paula, Najd and two further unannounced characters are joining the fray in the summer of 2023.
Further to that, a special Fighter Pass will also be available to purchase, including all six DLC characters for Season 2, including Shingo Yabuki.
There’s more though and to accompany the start of Season 2, The King of Fighters XV will push out an update that will refine all characters in the roster. There will also be no less than fifteen staff roll songs added, free of charge, today too. This will come about from previous KOF games, added to KOF XV’s DJ Station, allowing players to customise their BGM during the matches with their favourite songs.
If you have The King of Fighters XV in your library, then you should be good to go from today. If not, grab the game from the usual digital stores on Xbox (the Xbox Store link is here for you), PlayStation or PC. From there, the Shingo Yabuki DLC can be purchased for £4.99, whilst the Fighter Pass will set you back £24.99, giving access to six new characters over the course of the year.
