When the weather turns cold outside it is a great time for a coffee, and so in the world of Forza Horizon 5 and Mexico, where it is now Winter, we can have a brew and head off into the freezing world with hope of completing the latest Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges.
As always, that’s where I come in, providing you with the cars – and the tunes – you will need in order to easily complete the Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 36 Winter.
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Innovation That Excites
The subject of this week’s car challenge is a Nissan, the 370Z from 2010, the sixth generation of the famous Z car line. The 350Z that came before it was a bit of a fan favourite, so this a bit like a band’s difficult second album, but they managed to pull it off!
Should you not have one already, go and buy it from the Autoshow – they will exchange it for 40,000 of your credits. You can also win one by completing the “A Mug-mificent Collection” seasonal championship.
Chapter 1 – Take it Ea’Z’y
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete.
Chapter 2 – Nismo Treatment
Spend more than 10,000 credits on upgrades. I do have one I prepared earlier, but it is a bit of a beast! Share code is : 366123043.
Chapter 3 – Comes Naturally
As the previous Z cars have been drift machines, we now have to earn 200,000 points at drift zones. Pick your best and get sliding!
Chapter 4 – Synchrorev Match
To celebrate the fact the 370Z had a fancy gearbox, we have to beat a Rival ghost. Pick your slowest mate – we’ve all got one.
Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 36.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.
The Trial, three Eventlabs, PR Stunts, races, who could ask for more?
The Trial – On the Circuit
Time to play as a team. I know I say it every week, but hopefully sooner or later someone will notice… Last week was especially bad. I’m beginning to despair. If you feel like you know how to race as a team, please reach out to me!
We need a Cadillac or Chevrolet Car this time, tuned to A Class 800. I went with a Chevy Z06 from 2002, share code : 119304770.
Let’s hope the racing gods smile down on us this week, as we attempt to win a Dodge Viper.
Eventlab 1 – JOH CEE Presents Plynthcraft Race 2
The class here is an odd one – Microcar Madness, tuned to D Class 500. I chose a Fiat 500 EsseEsse and the share code is : 177163642.
A short but fun track that was a blast to drive around.
A Super Wheelspin is the prize.
Eventlab 2 – PETROLHEAD55823 Presents Calypso Coastline
We need a Retro Sports Car tuned to A Class 800 and so that sounds like a job for a Nissan, a 240SX in this case, and the share code is : 299598631.
This track really outstays its welcome, with a lap time of over two minutes, three laps is too many. Not a fan, I’m afraid.
Take away a Donut Media Honk Honk horn as a reward.
Eventlab 3 – SP33DK1NG555 Presents Grounds Raceway GP
We need a Modern Supercar, tuned to S1 Class 900. I used a Nissan GT-R Black Edition, and the share code for mine is : 394811233.
Another very long lap that is a bit too technical for the class of car – it is seemingly constant braking.
The prize for winning is a Ferrari 430S, which is nice.
PR Stunt 1 -Speed Trap – Callejon
This week, all the PR stunts need the same car, a B Class 700 BMW M3 from 1997. The share name for mine is M397B with my GT, Red620Ti.
We need to hit 115 mph.
Do so and you’ll find a Super Wheelspin heading your way in return.
PR Stunt 2 – Speed Zone – Pyramid of the Moon
Same car needed here, and the target is 100 mph average.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
PR Stunt 3 – Drift Zone – Precipice
Same car yet again, but some sliding about to do. Of course, a car set up to grip isn’t the best at sliding, but use the handbrake, Luke! Alternatively, stock trim will slide better…
We need to score over 75,000 drift points to win a huge prize.
Another Super wheelspin, that is.
Seasonal Championship 1 – A Mug-nificent Collection
Groan.
Collectors Series car is the category (no idea) and the class is A 800. I went with a n Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, and the share name is AR33 with my GT, Red620Ti.
For winning out, we can take home a 370Z, just right for the weekly challenge.
Seasonal Championship 2 – Be a Good Sport
We need to grab a Retro Sports Car car and make it into a B Class 700 monster.
Since we needed one of these for one of the Eventlabs, I went with the same car – The Skyline GT-R, share code : 135285831.
The prize for winning is a BMW M3.
Part 3: Other Challenges
Slim pickings again this week, only a photo, some Open Racing and smashing to do! Oh, and some Playground Games. Maybe not so slim after all!
Photo Challenge – #ALFA-GATO
Take a photo of any Alfa Romeo at the frozen lake on La Gran Caldera. Sounds complicated? I’ll show you where to go, never fear.
Enjoy my artistic effort up at the top of this piece. The location you need to be in is below.
The reward? A new outfit, an orange suit. Nope, still the coffee cup for me!
Horizon Open – Car go Brew’m
We need to earn 6 Ultimate Speed Skills in Horizon Open Racing this week, which may be a challenge depending on the track we are on.
The reward for all this zooming about is a new horn – Donut Media Trying to Race.
Playground Games – Caffeine Rush
Is there no end to the coffee-related puns?
We need a Rods and Customs car tuned to B Class 700 for this event, and I chose a Chevy Bel Air, share name is “Belair” with my GT, Red620Ti.
The prize is a Forzalink phrase “I have the high ground”.
Horizon Collectibles – Spill the Beans
The traditional find things and smash them challenge here, and we need to crash into 10 coffee cups that are dotted around the coffee shop at the western end of the highway.
I’ll show the location and what we are looking for below. The reward? A new Forzalink Phrase, “Gotta smash ‘em all!”.
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Horizon Nexus
We are limited to a single car this week, and that car is the Audi TT RS, tuned to A Class 800. The share code for mine is : 146170671 (2010 model).
We need to hit over 220 mph through the trap to win! Take a long run up from the north to do it.
A Super Wheelspin is your reward.
Seasonal Championship – Time to Play
We need a Track Toy, and the tuning limit is S1 Class 900. I went with a Porsche 911 GT2 RS from 2012, and the share code is : 129256081.
Completing the championship will get us an Audi TT RS. Handy!
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – La Cantera
Limited to only an Aerial Nomad and A Class 800, we need to do a bit of jumping for this event. Share code for mine is : 144860625.
The target is 275m. This is pretty tough, but a decent run up will see you right. Aim to hit the ramp at around 125 mph to clear it.
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. How many of these things is it possible to stack up?
Seasonal Championship – In the Hot Seat
We need a Retro Hot Hatch, tuned to C Class 600. I used a Honda Civic Type R from 2004 in stock trim, as the tuning class is just right.
The reward for racing? An Aerial Nomad.
The rewards for Series 36 and Winter in Forza Horizon 5
With Series 36 shifting into the Winter, the road to the new cars for the month are up for grabs. And this time they are the Aston Martin Vanquish from 2018 for 80 points and a Ford Mustang DD for 160 points. Just keep adding points for now and these will be in your garage in no time.
Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 36 – and we are back to the full 4 for this month. These are Copper Canyon Sprint, Arch of Mulege Circuit, Cathedral circuit (I hate this one) and Mangrove Scramble. Turn in clean laps on each track to earn a massive four points to the weekly totals. Sadly not four for each, as they seem to suggest!
Grab enough points and Series 36 Winter also sees you given access to the exclusive Mazda MX-5 RF for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get the Subaru BRZ ‘22 a hard to find but very good looking car.
Tune in at the same time next week for the next instalment of Series 36 as we get to drink more coffee and drive more cars with the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Spring! It’ll soon be Series 37, and who knows what that will bring? Maybe tea and crumpets…
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
