Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges Guide Series 34 – Summer

-

Well, it is finally my time to shine! It is a little upsetting to see things that you remember as a kid being all retro and stuff, and it does make me feel old. Still, neon, shoulder pads and wedge shaped cars are all part of the fun – the Retrowave is here. Get your shoulderpads, legwarmers and so on ready…

More new cars, and even a new radio station to get us in the mood are on offer with Series 34 of the Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges as we move into Summer. But that also means there are more challenges to try, as I attempt to provide you with tunes and not weep on my keyboard.

Let’s go!

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Type-R

With that name, it can only be a Honda we are going to drive, and as it turns out, it is the NSX-R from 1992. Any car signed off by Ayrton Senna is probably going to handle alright, you reckon? Still, only 483 of these were ever made, so they are pretty rare. Don’t bend it!

Should you not have one in your garage, then they are available in the Autoshow, at 90,000 credits. Or, complete the Above and Be Honda Seasonal Championship to get one for free. Free is always my favourite price.

Chapter 1 – Limited Edition

Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete.

Chapter 2 – Track Ready

Now, win a street race. I tuned mine a tad, share code : 132048508. Pick your fave race!

Chapter 3 – Premium Add Ons

Now we have to spend 20,000 credits on upgrades. Wish I’d known this before upgrading my car!

Chapter 4 – Power to Weight

We now need to earn three stars at Speed Zones to celebrate the car being lighter but just as powerful. Pick a zone, any zone!

Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 34.

Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts

So, with the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.

The Trial, the Eventlab making two triumphant comebacks, PR Stunts and only two Seasonal Championships. The same as last week, really…

The Trial – Countach for More

Lets try to race nicely, yeah?

We need a Retro Supercar, and the tuning limit is S1 Class 900. I went for a Bugatti EB110, and the share name is S1EB with my GT, Red620Ti.

The prize for managing to find people who actually want to race The Trial like it should be done is a Lamborghini Countach. Didn’t see that one coming.

Eventlab 1 – M1K3G3TZ Presents Temples Rally

This time we need a Retro Rally car, tuned to B Class 700. I chose a Celica ST185 from 1992, and the share code is: 993344317.

A short and snappy course that doesn’t outstay its welcome, I had fun with this one.

Take away a 911 Turbo for completing this, why don’t you?

Eventlab 2 – ANDYPSBACK Presents The Tiny Tangerine

For this event, we need a Retro Supercar, and what could be better than the Countach, share code: 797737461.

Another reasonable track, that captures the Retrowave feel perfectly. Just mind the kerbs!

For winning out, we can take away a 1987 Sierra Cosworth.

PR Stunt 1 – Danger Sign – Launch Control

This week, all the PR stunts need the same car, a Pontiac Trans Am from ‘87, tuned to D Class 500. Knight Rider this ain’t! Look for share name DTA with my Red620Ti as the GT.

We need to jump over 112 m.

Do so and you’ll find a Super Wheelspin heading your way in return.

PR Stunt 2 –  Speed Trap – Los Arboles

Same car is needed here.

The target this time is to exceed 101 mph. This is quite close to the top speed, so keep the hammer down. And best head downhill too.

Yet another Super Wheelspin???

PR Stunt 3 –  Speed Zone – La Silica

Some average speed driving to do here, and this time the target is 82 mph. I went again with the same Pontiac as the rest of the challenges. On stock tyres. Should be a snap!

Another Super Wheelspin awaits.

Seasonal Championship 1 – Red Sky at Night

Retro Sports Cars tuned to only B Class 700 is the theme here, and so I went with a Mazda MX-5 Miata from 1994. Share code is 133412220.

For winning out, we can take home a Nissan GTS-R.

Seasonal Championship 2 – Above and Be Honda

Ladies and gentlemen, the pun writers.

We need to use a Retro Supercar for this event, tuned to A Class 800, and so I chose a Lamborghini Countach (might as go with the theme, eh?) and the share code is : 797737461.

The prize for winning is a Honda NSX- R. Yep, the one we need for the weekly challenge.

Part 3: Other Challenges

There’s always more to get involved in than just the racing, and that is the case again this week with Series 34 Summer. You’ve got a photo to take, a Treasure Hunt to partake in, and a bit of the Eliminator, alongside a bit of Horizon Arcade. Loads!

Photo Challenge – #MYFAIRLADY

With a name like that, it has to be a Nissan Fairlady, right? Or a 300ZX as we knew them over here! Take a picture of the 1994 Fairlady Z at Tulum. Easy yeah?

Enjoy my artistic effort up at the top of this piece. The location you need to be in is below.

The reward? A new Retrowave outfit. Sounds cool.

Treasure Hunt – Near Misfortune

The Clue this time reads “Driving close to traffic may be daunting, but on the highway this challenge is rewarding”.

The picture is of a DeLorean DMC12, which fits the Retrowave vibe, and we need to get Near Miss skills on the highway by the sound of it. And best of all, I only had to do one…

The chest contains 100,000 credits, and the location is shown below.

Horizon Arcade – Mini Games

Get through all three stages of any Horizon Arcade flavour – Drift, Speed, Air, Wreckage and Chaos, and you can win big. Drift is clearly the best, mind.

There’s literally any class possible, so I can’t give you a tune, but the prize is worth it – 3 whole points to the weekly totals!

The Eliminator – Battle Royale

Get into the top 30 of the drivers in the Eliminator to come out on top of this challenge. Hiding in a bush miles from anywhere is my tactic for most Battle Royales, and this is no different.

However you do it, the reward will be a new Forza link phrase, “This is Fine”.

Part 4: Hot Wheels Events

If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.

Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – Forest Leap

Do a jump! In a Classic Racer, tuned to S1 Class 900, and try to make it over 340m. What could possibly go wrong?

I used a Penske Sunoco T70, and the share code is : 179287110. Hit the ramp at over 175 to clear this.

The prize is another Super Wheelspin. You know, those things we really don’t need…

Seasonal Championship – When the Hemi Drops

Don’t have your foot under it?

We need to use a Classic Racer as above, so I stuck with the same car.

Completing the championship will get us an Plymouth Cuda.

Part 5: Rally Adventure Events

The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…

Seasonal PR Stunt – Danger Sign – Palm Forest

Get in a Rally Monster tuned to A Class 800 and try to fly more than 200 m.

I went for the Hoonigan Cossie V2, and the share code for mine is : 140648350.

A Super Wheelspin is your reward.

Seasonal Championship – Fish out of Water

Off road racing in a Rally Monster, A Class 800? Sounds ideal!

I used the same Cossie as above, gotta save those pennies.

The reward for racing? An Opel Manta 400.

The rewards for Series 34 and Summer in Forza Horizon 5

With Series 34 just kicking off, there are new cars for the month. And they are the N Vision 74’22 for 80 points and a DeLorean DMC12 for 160 points. You won’t have enough points to nab them yet, but start banking those points and they will be yours before you know it.

Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 34 as well. There are four to try your hand at this month – Playa Azul Circuit and Las Laderas for real engines, and Descansar Dorado Sprint and Los Jardines Circuit for battery powered cars. Post a clean lap on each to score 4 whole points towards the prize cars.

Grab enough points and Series 34 Summer also sees you given access to the exclusive Lamborghini Countach ‘21 for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Ferrari 512 TR, a hard to find car apparently.

We’ll be back with similar guides for the rest of Series 34 as Autumn, Winter and Spring come along.

To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.

Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
