It is back into the world of Shockman we go, with a prequel featuring some brand-new characters, and a brand-new threat. Cyber Citizen Shockman Zero is out today on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
Back before Tasuke and Kyapiko were involuntarily transformed into Shockmen in the first game, Cyber Citizen Shockman, two new heroes rose up. Raita and Azuki must transform into the heroes the world needs.
After Dr. Gotokuji’s new engine is stolen by the B.B. Dan group, Raita and Azuki must fight back and save the world across eight different stages. Azuki uses a traditional fighting style for the Cyber Citizen Shockman games, whereas Raita utilises something new. They fight like a boxer using physical attacks and a first for the series, comboing attacks together to rid the world of evil henchmen.
Cyber Citizen Shockman Zero also features:
- Platform beat ‘em up gameplay
- 2 characters with their unique skills
- Co-op 2-player mode
- Image gallery from hand-made scans
- Rewind/Forward function
- Brand new English translation plus original Japanese text
- Save states
- CRT Filter
However, Cyber Citizen Shockman Zero remains a Shockman game at heart. Side-scrolling adventures, bosses at the end of each stage and a banging retro soundtrack. If you have yet to play one of these games, perhaps the prequel could be the one for you.
Cyber Citizen Shockman Zero is on the Xbox Store now priced at £6.99. There is also an introductory discount if you’re quick, dropping the price to £5.59 for a limited time. If you need any further convinicing, stick around for our review coming very soon.
