If you are invited to an island formerly inhabited by terrifying cultists, equipped only with a magical pendulum that allows you to view horrific scenes, I’d argue against booking that specific Airbnb.
Regardless, that is exactly what you will experience in The Occultist – the newest horror title from Daedalic Entertainment and DALOAR – previously known as Pentakill Studios.
Introducing… Alan
Slated for a 2025 release onto Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms, The Occultist puts you into the quaking boots of Alan Rebels. He is the newest visitor to the island of Godstone, which has long been abandoned and is full of the creepiness of a former cult encampment.
Immediately The Occultist reminds us of Outlast, with the emphasis on hiding away from your foes, as opposed to engaging in combat with them. Also, you have a very important item at your disposal: instead of Outlast’s flashlight, the mystical pendulum can be raised to your eye to interact with elements of the environment.
There’s five different ways to use the pendulum, each allowing for a new method to solve the plethora of puzzles that play out in this first-person horror adventure.
Key Features
- Mystic Pendulum: Utilize the pendulum’s five unique mechanics to interact with and manipulate the environment.
- First-Person Experience: Immerse yourself in the foreboding world of The Occultist through Alan’s eyes.
- Survival Horror: Experience tense exploration, atmospheric environments, and a gripping, personal narrative.
- Next-Gen Graphics: Enjoy a visually stunning and immersive horror experience.
- Hide and Sneak: Employ stealth mechanics to navigate the story without direct combat.
- Memorable Characters: Encounter adversaries that make the investigation a true nightmare.
- Puzzles: Solve a variety of puzzles that require insight into the occult.
- Original Soundtrack: Featuring music by renowned composer Pepe Herrero.
