Got an Antstream Arcade subscription kicking around in your digital library? It’s time to put it to good use with the latest additions to the world’s largest library of retro titles.
We spent countless hours playing The Way Of The Exploding Fist back in the 1980s, attempting to get to grips with its martial art ways. We mostly failed, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have fun trying. In fact, it’s a game that brings forth some of our most treasured gaming memories.
Kick and punch
This week sees The Way Of The Exploding Fist come to Antstream Arcade, joined by the arcade classic vibes of Zippy Bug. These follow on from the likes of Super Turrican as well as Berzerk and Frenzy in recent weeks.
For us, it’s The Way Of The Exploding Fist that is the highlight as the 1985 fighting classic from Beam Dog becomes playable again; just on modern systems. Having first launched on C64, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, the Acorn Electron and C16, there’s a good chance that you’ll want to see how this one has aged. ‘Well’ is what we’re hoping for.
Getting Zippy with a little bug
Further to that though is the addition of Data East’s 1986 arcade game – Zippy Bug. Honestly, we don’t remember this one at all, but the vertical shoot ’em up action that is promised looks to excite, as players climb a gigantic tree. Do you remember it? Let us know in the comments, why don’t you…
“Two great new titles added to Antstream this week. A chaotic Arcade game and a skillful martial arts fighter. Both games are a great addition to the Antstream library and are sure to become fast favourites for retro gamers.” – Steve Cottam, CEO of Antstream.
There’s more though and if you’re a retro Antstream Arcade fan, then you should keep a little eye out for this week’s new challenge. It’s the 1984 SNES game Ghoul Patrol that is the focus with “Don’t Fear the Reaper”.
