What were you doing in 2008? If you were anything like us, you’d have been playing Braid. If not (or even if you were), then you’ll not want to miss out on the release of Braid, Anniversary Edition.
Created by Jonathan Blow, Braid is a time manipulation puzzler in which you’ll be left to work your way through a series of worlds, each connected, each full of magic and mystery. It’s here where you are on the hunt for a Princess (of course you are!), haunted only by the memories gone by.
Braid is back!
For many, the original Braid was seen as a bit of a masterpiece when it first launched in 2008. And that means this Anniversary Edition is likely to see gamers flock once more, as they look to take in a nostalgic hit, just reworked for modern times.
With Braid, Anniversary Edition you’ll discover access to the same brilliant game, just now full of hi-res visuals, new sound effects and the addition of some dev commentary. As you rewind and pause the action no less than 12 hours of insight will be delivered via the original dev, artist and more. It may just be enough to take Braid to an altogether new level.
And whilst many will be looking to take in the newly revamped Braid, there is also the opportunity to switch between the original and the Anniversary Edition as you go.
Key features
- MANIPULATE TIME TO MOVE FORWARD – Rewind, pause and use the strange properties of time in each world to run and jump through beautifully painted environments. Avoid hazards, unlock doors and collect jigsaw puzzle pieces to assemble. If you get hung up on a particular puzzle, feel free to move on and return later.
- A FRESH COAT OF PAINT – This is the game you remember, with all the original challenges and the same haunting, evocative score — but repainted pixel by pixel so that each carefully rendered world comes to life in high resolution. New visual details, animated brushstroke effects and revamped sounds add to the immersive experience.
- GO (DEEP) BEHIND THE SCENES – Explore the most extensive developer commentary ever put into a game, with over 12 hours of recorded insight and conversation from developer Jonathan Blow, artist David Hellman and more members of the “Braid” creative team. Navigate it by visiting a new in-game world, which also contains new puzzles and redesigns of classic puzzles.
