Having been Xbox gamers from 2002 when the original big black box hit the UK, taking in all the 360 years and now being overly excited for the One, we could never find a place that would only cover the interesting, exciting stuff from the world of Xbox. Hence, TheXboxHub was born.
Covering only the best in the latest news and reviews for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Xbox, we aim to be a one stop hub for all your Xbox needs, without all the useless guff that you really don’t want to know about.
From January 2015 until the XCN closed in September 2018, TheXboxHub has been recognised as part of the official Xbox Community Network, whilst January 2017 saw us added to the approved critic list over at Metacritic.
If you wish to get in contact with us to either tell us more about your game, propose a partnership or get involved with writing, then the best contact to hit us on is [email protected]. If you are a developer or publisher, then we will only make contact via the official @thexboxhub.com email address, with the vast majority coming from [email protected]. Please ignore requests from anyone claiming to write for TXH who do not provide a @thexboxhub.com address.
Meet the current team:
Set up at the back end of 2013 by long time Xboxer Neil, TXH has already exceeded many of his expectations, now seeing regular posts from achievement hunter James, alongside input from pro writers Gemma and Gareth when they can manage to drag themselves away from the science lab and stage respectively. Fin is now also on board and will help contribute to our monthly ‘Up Next’ articles and opinion pieces, whilst further team members help contribute on a very regular basis. You can find our entire team line up on our TEAM PAGE. There are a good few of us.
Review Scores:
We think long and hard about our review scores. It’s pretty safe to say that no matter how much we want someone to read every last word, the majority of gamers will skim a review just to see what the final score is. That could be out of 100, 10 or in our case, 5…..with 1 being the worst score possible and 5 being the best.
That’s not to say that a 5 rated game is perfect, no game ever is perfect and we’d hazard a guess to say that no game ever will be that way, but if you see a TXH 5* at the bottom of a review then it’s safe to assume things are rather decent. Similarly, see that dreaded 1* rating and just make sure you think twice about spending your cash.
From January 2015 we’ve started to bring in half star scores to our reviews. The same principle as before still stands, but the half marks now give us the chance to bring a little more detail to the equation. If you need a little confirmation then think of the stars as the following percentages…
- 0-10% – 0.5 star
- 11-20% – 1 star
- 21-30% – 1.5 star
- 31-40% – 2 star
- 41-50% – 2.5 star
- 51-60% – 3 star
- 61-70% – 3.5 star
- 71-80% – 4 star
- 81-90% – 4.5 star
- 91-100% – 5 star
Groups and Communities:
After bringing you the best Xbox news and reviews for some time, we feel it’s now time to expand as a community. With that in mind, we have two popular and well used groups in place. Whether you spend every waking hour on Facebook or prefer to delve into the art of Google+, we cater for your needs. Join our Facebook Group right now and get involved in the chat. You’ll also be privy to all our competitions and giveaways, with many of our Xbox One code giveaways going out to those involved in our groups. We’d love to see you join us in discussions in regards to Xbox, the wider gaming community or the world in general. Got something to vent? We’re here to listen!
Game With Us:
Obviously we wouldn’t even consider running, editing or writing about Xbox One or 360 news and reviews if we weren’t massive gamers at heart. Thankfully we are and are always on the lookout for new friends, followers or opponents on Xbox Live. Feel free to add our gamertags to your friends list, (you can find our author details on each article) and we’ll happily get gaming with or against you. We’re known to play all manner of games but at the end of a hard days writing, can normally be found tearing up Division 8 of FIFA Clubs with our ‘Trumpton Town’ team or on Forza Horizon 4 with our car club (we’d love you to join). We’d be more than happy to play more friendly clubs games so if you have a team and would like a match or five, give us a shout and we’ll get something arranged.
Watch Our Streams:
With the integration of Twitch into Xbox One, you can now watch us fail spectacularly at gaming. If you would like to magically watch our streams via the power of the internet, join up to Mixer and follow us. We’ll be streaming under the following accounts:
- TheXboxHub (Twitch)
- oKid_UKo (Twitch)
Get Social:
The world is an ever decreasing space and with the help of numerous social media outlets, it’s easier than ever to keep in touch with us. You can find us frequently on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Stumbleupon and Pinterest. Additionally, we also run a thriving Facebook Group which is open to all comers. You’ll need to request an invite but we’d love to have you join us. Just click the links found top right and give us a shout.
Advertising
Site hosting costs money and no matter how much we wish we didn’t have to, Google pays the bills. You will therefore see the odd advert in place, or the very occasional paid editorial piece mixed up with our posts – these will be clearly labelled, with either TXH, Sponsored Post, or ‘In Collaboration with…’ being credited as the author. All cash received goes to site upkeep only and we’ll never let either of those options make a dent on your browsing experience or affect our thoughts. The reviews you will see will never be paid for. If you ever fancy dropping a little spare cash towards our Patreon, then everything is hugely appreciated and gratefully received.
Affiliates
TheXboxHub is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn commission incomes by advertising and linking to Amazon.
Further, we also participate in CDKeys affiliate program, again designed as a means for sites to earn commission incomes by advertising CDKeys products.
Xbox Community Network:
From January 2015 until the XCN closed in September 2018, TheXboxHub were included in the Xbox Community Network.
TheSwitchHub:
Whilst we all hold the Xbox world close to our hearts, there is no getting away from the fact that as gamers, other formats hold plenty of draw. This is no more true than that found in the brilliant land of Nintendo Switch – as such, we now also have a companion site – TheSwitchHub. You can be sure that our reviews of the most exciting Nintendo Switch games will come with the same clarity and fairness of our Xbox reviews and so if you have the same love for the portability of the Switch, we’d love it if you could pay it a visit.
