Need more DOOM in your life? id Software have got you covered as they re-release DOOM and DOOM II (again!), this time on Game Pass, combined in one huge package, with even more enhancements in tow.
DOOM is back. Again.
You’ve probably played DOOM, whether it be the original 1993 version or that which was released on Xbox a few year back. Similar goes for DOOM II, as that hit back to a more modern audience. But we’re not sure you’ve played either game in the way id Software are wanting you to do so now, as they re-re-release DOOM + DOOM II in a big bundle. It’s on Game Pass so you really shouldn’t be missing out.
Available right now on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nitnendo Switch and PC, is the new definitive version of DOOM + DOOM II. Co-developed with Nightdive Studios, these legendary shooters may not have ever been in a better place than they are now.
Multiple enhancements
You see, these newly enhanced versions include:
- Online cross-platform deathmatch and co-op for up to 16 players
- Community published single-player mod support with an in-game mod browser
- Optimized renderer
- Accessibility options
- Optional IDKFA soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult selectable alongside the original midi soundtracks – including the never-before-released IDKFA version of DOOM II
- Improved performance with multithreaded rendering supporting up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS on Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5
- Brand new episode, “Legacy of Rust,” with new weapons and demons made in collaboration by individuals from id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames
- Existing owners of DOOM (1993) and/or DOOM II on any of the above platforms receive a free upgrade to the new combined game and can still access their previously owned versions.

Other formats stores should be able to offer similar – just without the Game Pass love.

Further and also announced at QuakeCon is the DOOM Anthology, a new physical release including DOOM (1993), DOOM II, DOOM 64, DOOM 3, DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition.
Containing an exclusive SteelBook game case and 5-inch replica of the BFG with LEDs and a stand, this is a hell of a collection.
